My name is Stacey Gilbert and I moved to the area ten years ago. My professional life has always been in commercial catering and I’m eager to give something back to my community.
The way I can help my community is to put the skills I have learnt across my career to create nutritious ready meals. Access to great food should be a right for everyone and we aim to do just that.
I like walking my dogs in the beautiful Devon countryside.
Hello, my name is Ian Downey, and I am really pleased to be part of Devon Community Health Kitchen, a Community Interest Company that I firmly believe can have a positive impact on the wellbeing of one of the most vulnerable groups of people in our society. Namely, the homeless and those people experiencing food poverty, for whatever reason. I believe everyone having access to a healthy diet – particularly in a first world country – should be a given, and that where this doesn’t happen, there is a negative impact on that person’s wellbeing and mental health.
I have previously worked in the NHS for over thirty-years and, since the war started in Ukraine, have been to the country on several occasions, undertaking humanitarian aid work.
Having experienced a period of very poor mental health a number of years, I am completely aware of the role a healthy diet plays in a person’s recovery and wellbeing.
When not working, I enjoy yoga, paddle boarding and cycling, and aim to swim in the sea daily.
My name is Brioney Trebilcock, and I am pleased to be involved in this work! I have always had a passion for volunteer work and aiding people who need it the most. I spend my time volunteering for a handful of charities and organisations, alongside working part time. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of helping with Ians walk for Ukraine by managing social media and publicity. I think this is such an important cause to be raising money for!
Harry Gilbert
My name is Harry Gilbert, and I’m a 23-year-old with nearly a decade of experience in commercial catering and food service, starting at the age of 14. Growing up in a family of chefs and working alongside them, I was immersed in a world where creativity in the kitchen was the norm, and we often relied on what was available to craft three meals a day. This hands-on upbringing instilled in me not only a deep love for cooking but also a strong sense of resourcefulness and adaptability—skills that are invaluable when preparing nutritious meals for a crowd.
My passion for sustainability and community has driven me to focus on addressing food insecurity, a cause I am deeply committed to. By turning food donations into balanced, ready-to-eat meals, I’m able to combine my love for cooking with my desire to give back. For me, it's not just about providing food—it's about creating dishes that are nourishing and made with care, ensuring that everyone, no matter their circumstances, can enjoy a wholesome meal.
When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll likely find me staying active by walking, swimming, or playing cricket. I also love to unwind with a good book, finding a balance between my love for physical activity and mental relaxation.
